There is a default user set up
user name: jack
paswword: jack

user: root
password: opensolaris

But you can login as root at the login manager because root is a role in
OpenSolaris.

Which Version? OpenSolaris 2009.06?

the system request the Username and password,
The LiveCD is supposed to continue with starting
an X11 gui environment, and the user "jack"
with password "jack" should be automatically
logged in.

But apparently the GUI does not auto start on
your system.

Can you give us some details for your system?
Vendor? Model? CPU? Memory? Video Card? etc...

To start diagnosing the problem, login as "jack" / "jack"
and have a look at the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log -
are there any error messages logged to that file?

I had the same issue in HP laptop ( dv6k). when it supposed to start xwindow, somehow it's not able to bring up GUI. but there wasn't no error. Then i increased Video mem from default 4MB to 15 MB in Virtual Box and it booted to GUI.

Thanks
